About the ATLAS Task Force

ATLAS is tasked primarily with research, development, and design for the development of emerging technologies. These developments are tested in live operations, and the group may also be tasked with other special operational needs of sensitive nature on behalf of Starfleet. Additionally, ATLAS remains vigilant as a reserve force, being the last line of defense against threats to the Sol star system. Being the very last line of defense requires that we be prepared at a moment's notice to deploy with the most elite skill and advanced technologies that our star system can possibly bring to bear against any enemy. To that end, we maintain a high operational tempo outside of training and simulations alone. This reserve force is not one of persons willing to give some time to train "just in case" they should ever be needed. While honorable enough as they may be, to be sure, our force is a constantly hard-charging reckoning of widely varied capability that might, just might choose to sleep finally after we are dead.

While given a virtually open hand in the most loyal, honorable, operations under the very highest echelons of Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets, we still retain position within a de-escalating leveled command structure meeting the responsibilities and enjoying the benefits therein. We operate within the Starfleet Temporal DEC Armada, Starfleet Special Operations Division, Star Fleet Corps of Discovery, Gamma Fleet. We are not, however, under any affiliation or command control of the notorious Section 31. Although there is a paramount need for secrecy in our operations, we are more technologically oriented than those mucking around in a cloak and dagger world of smoke and mirrors, who seem to relish any chance to use a chartered bag of dirty tricks. Friendships, however secretive, diplomacy, and good fortune guide or way rather than deviousness or accomplishment at the cost of honor.
